What is a prenatal?
Prenatals with me are like a mini class, an opportunity to chat about anything on your mind, figure out the kind of birth you want and what we can all do to try and make it a reality. It’s becoming a team with you and your partner (if you have one). We’ll go over important information, chat casually, dive into worries and stresses, discuss ways to prepare and so much more.
Some questions we may go over in a prenatal:
How will your partner support you?
What is the process of labor/birth?
Full of anxiety?
What about the unexpected?
What are birth preferences and is it necessary?
What does the doula do?
What is informed consent?
What are all the choices I may face?
-
We will talk in depth about the kind of birth you want. I can help you go through a routine to help pinpoint what is really important to you and how to put it into your birth preferences. I’ll create a sheet for you that we can go over and finalize by our second prenatal.
-
From stages and phases of labor, to the changes in the body, to benefits and risks of different interventions and augmentations, and so much more! Plus, if there’s anything you’re more concerned about or want more information on, I’m happy to tailor the visit to your wants and needs.

Probably what most people think of when they think of a doula. I like to teach partners comforting techniques as well as how we can all be a team to best support you. We will go over all the different types of comfort and find which ones you’re most interested in. This is one of the most important aspects in avoiding different pain medications.
Looking for more support? Have additional questions or want to practice comfort measures? Maybe you need someone to go on a walk with you, help prepare frozen meals, do a guided meditation or assist in postpartum planning? You may be looking for an extra prenatal!
